The Best of the 2019 International Convention

1 year ago Entrepreneurship, Events / Conference, Health & Wellness, Life Wisdom
Written in part by Angie Olivo with highlights from Unfranchise News (Partners)

“You can have everything in life that you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want” -Zig Ziglar

This is one of the main core values that my partners from Market America thrive on. I’ve been learning more about their opportunities in the recent months I’ve become an unfranchise owner. It was beautiful and magical experience for me and my team to be surrounded by a global community.

For us all to come together for a weekend of learning, goal setting, getting our entrepreneurial spirits motivated and being inspired by those who have extended amount of business experience. The comradery and the displays of teamwork were also amazing to witness .

From Aug. 8th –11th, a group of more than 20,000 entrepreneurial-minded people gathered for the Market America | SHOP.COM 2019 International Convention. They traveled from all over the world to Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C., to learn about the UnFranchise® Business — and Market America’s Corporate leaders and top UnFranchise Owners (UFOs) did not disappoint. The enthusiastic crowd received a wealth of information (along with a dose of fun and inspiration) to motivate them to build their own businesses and achieve their dreams.

Loren Ridinger giving us her Girlboss magic!

Senior Executive Vice President Loren Ridinger welcomed the eager attendees and offered words of encouragement, reinforcing the philosophy that Market America has maintained for 27 years, that the company is built on product and powered by people, and that this is the best way to attain the time and financial freedom that we all dream of.

After seeing the thousands of different cultures and diverse crowd shouting in happiness to be all in the same place at the same time, I truly understood what it really means to be part of an organization or company that embraces inclusion and diversity as their core values. It was amazing to see and feel all those positive people and innovative energy that surrounded the convention.

It was clear that we were all there for a common goal, which is to ultimately live your life on our own terms, be surrounded by influencers and learn from entrepreneurial leaders.

“Want to grow successfully, you have to increase your energy = Good Health & exercising”

Welcome to Market America’s 2019 International Convention | Loren Ridinger
    • Sharing your wants & vulnerability is courageous.
    • Don’t stop because you miss your way, keep going!
    • Know your WHY [want/why/what/when] Best goal model!
    • Action -Attitude-Atmosphere
    • [Change]- In order to build your dream you have to be willing to pay the price for it.
    • [clarity]-Put down a number!
    • Align with people that have similar goals and wants to see you grow.
    • Show your heart and be real!
    • Help people build generations of independence

Her speech was electric, full of female amazonian power and wisdom to all new entrepreneurs on the rise! It was a moment that me and my business partners felt to the core and couldn’t wait until we would get to pass down what we learned with our teams. And better yet, we all get to go to Miami in February 2020, and experience this all over again, even, better over Pina coladas, mojitos and the beach 🙂 Winter in February in Canada is one of the coldest months, so it’s a very encouraging business goal to look forward to don’t you think?

Founder, Chairman and CEO JR Ridinger provided top tips on becoming a hopeless success, giving the crowd a true education on how to find the right people to help you build your business. He explained the phenomenon of imprinting and assured attendees:

“You will end up with the right people if you do this process correctly.”

Business Building Part 1 | JR Ridinger
Founder, Chairman, and CEO JR Ridinger explains how the business is a process of developing relationships. JR highlights the phenomenon of imprinting and how it relates to the UnFranchise Business.

President and COO Marc Ashley showed his usual enthusiasm, rushing onto the stage to highlight the new products and developments that will continue to push the company forward in taking the shopping world by storm.

“You’re going to think I’m a broken record because I always say these are the best products on the planet, and I truly believe it!” he said.

Other favorite speeches and moments were:

Power of Events | Joseph “Fat Joe” Cartagena

President of Urban & Latino Development Joseph “Fat Joe” Cartagena explored his childhood and how his humble beginnings led him to the man he became today.

    Best moment!

It was amazing to have met him afterwards and spoke to him a little 🙂 His songs were what got me through my teenage struggles in high school, so it was the best feeling to have met him and shared this experience and moment with my partners and friends.

Another individual that surprised me with his energy, positivity and serious leadership vibes was Dritan Hodo. I’ll probably never forget his method of finding our “A’s” in a pack of Deck cards. Just keep going and don’t stop until you find your A’s. (Partners)

    Power Profile | Dritan Hodo

National Supervising Coordinator Dritan Hodo thanked the entire coliseum for allowing him to speak today. Dritan said,

“This business is built on momentum. What is required for long-term success in Market America? You. You are the difference maker.”

As we are evolving, learning and understanding how this partnership works, you really get to see the perks of being in a community and company that always wants to see you grow and become the best version of yourself. They give you the tools, teach you and mentor you, until you and your team become your own organization and business partners. Truly grateful for my business partner and sponsor Shu Mei.

Me, Shu Mei and Her sister Tracy <3 -Motives section in the convention, 2019.

She’s always believed in me and encourage me to be the best version of myself. She’s a Mom entrepreneur and a true mentor leader. Especially on my worse days. Very thankful for you! <3

    Frenzr Networking Event “Let’s Connect!”

1 year ago Creative Courage Influencer Month, Entrepreneurship, Events / Conference, Photography, Workshop, WritersYep

Written and photographed by Angie Olivo

Creative Courage Month – Mariella Katz Founder of Frenzr

    Mariella Katz

In the world of social media marketing and developing strategies to build personal business brands finding the best is what a lot of business owners desire now days, especially, for those starting a new business or those wanting to expand into a more social media marketing and digital approach. Or maybe you just want to improve your personal development skills and keep working towards expanding your horizons with your side hustle job and personal goals. When it comes to our little Island of Montreal and the city of Quebec, one of the agencies that I would highly recommend is Frenzr.

Mariella has been building her business, clientele and her followers with much love, consistency and integrity. Shes loves to share her favorite local businesses and is strategic in her social media use. Her events and workshops are amazing and I highly recommend her to our clients.

As someone who is just starting and/or needs more sales, leads or drive traffic into their existent business or social media accounts but doesn’t want to drown in marketing spending cost, it would be important to reduce the costs associated to “traditional marketing”. The power of social media and digital/online media services, is that it solves the issues for a lot of entrepreneurs, local /online business owners and start-ups.

Social media and content marketing strategies save a lot of time, energy and spending costs (social media is free!), but you need the right tools, guidance and mentors that have experience to teach you the ropes. Finding the right mentor can make all the difference, they can help you target the right audience, reach your ideal customers, make sure your content creation has purpose and your vision is clear.

Here on WritersYep we have discovered a new way through our partners shop.com to better leverage those with the talent for being powerhouse influencers and living your own truth. #yourstorymatters More details later 😉

I believe that with the right connections and collaborations with the right key people is what allows us to be drawn to similar mindsets and energy that you put out for the world to see.

The people you meet at networking events can not only be potential to create good business relations but also to see what others are doing differently and gain inspiration from them.

Seeing others embracing their individuality and sharing their experiences and just enjoying other people’s company can also inspire you to help provide a solution to their problems or just talk and share your story. (Well not one way conversations if you know what I mean… There are those that never get tired of talking about themselves… which in that case, if you don’t like runner mouths, you can gracefully exit the convo ;))

My advise, learn to know when to talk but also when to listen. People want to talk about themselves, yes, but you are also there to hear what the other person has to say and learn from it.

Remember your experiences can help guide their journey in a positive and collective way. Don’t pressure people to do or engage in your ways, if they like your vibes and your energy they will stick around and definitely feel that they can be included, supported and encouraged by you. And as a result, they will do the same for you. Remember, not everyone will be open, some are just passing by and others are too “busy” to keep in touch or follow up with you.

But that’s okay, everyone has their own light and journey to follow and yours may not be included in theirs. Do not give there are many networking events and 7.2 billion people on this planet. No biggie, it’s a process and a constant learning experience, not a marathon ;). Besides, the people that are meant to be with you and surround you will stay, I promise 🙂

The people that you encounter at Frenzr networking events are a loyal network of a respected agencies and its founder. Mariella is constantly embracing the simple things and when it gets hard, she is realistic but consistently authentic and is always there if you need her. Delivery, is one of her agency best qualities (best goodie bags every network event! and amazing local sponsors). I can’t wait for my clients to have this experience! If you need a good social media workshop, learn from the “Queen” of Social media herself, a real girlboss and her beautiful and talented team. I would highly recommend reaching out my girl Mariella<3.

I love that she always encourages you to be your best. This is one of the qualities you should look for when meeting new people. Once you find these people, watch them work hard, support their businesses and attend their events because magical things will happen. You never know who you might meet or learn from.

At this event, I learned that diversity and simplicity exist you just have to let go of your conception of perfection and just be yourself. As I was taking pictures (after I talked to people of course) and a glass or two of wine :p watching them laugh or complimenting them, I noticed that their authenticity was one of the beautiful things about them. For me it was awesome to see and it was incredible to capture th joy of them just being themselves and letting go a little.

All these amazing and talented individuals are real entrepreneurs; some influencers, some content creators and some small local business owners. Networking allows you to connect with a variety of different people and discover what services they offer or where they’re heading next on their business journey or career path. It’s still hard work and they are there putting the time in order to advance in their lives and that takes courage. What’s great is that this agency provides inclusive and positive vibes, a “Let’s Connect” space and I was honoured to be part of it and capture their happy moments.

Did you know that networking is a talent? Yep, it’s also an art of self worth which is something we as humans are constantly battling within ourselves everyday, especially, when you have to stay as authentic in person as you are on social media.

Networking is a skill you have to master, and the only way to get good at it, it’s by doing it a lot! Yep, the more networking events, social gatherings, charities and conventions you attend, the better you become at acquiring your own authentic leads or organic followers. I mean social media marketing can get you connected with all kinds of people around the world. However, by doing what I’ve mentioned before, you build your own customer loyalty base for either your business or personal brand.

Mariella is also a mentor and educator. The first time I took her class, it was about how to work with influencers and how influence marketing can be done properly. I was so thankful for her creating this workshop, it helped me find key people and encouraged me to keep working with them in the near future. She also, helped my business partner Michelle, she took a content creation workshop. This helped her navigate the basics and ins & outs of social media managing for her personal account. She recently switched to focus on her business and just did her first launch! It was a success and she’s really happy that she got the right mentors and now she’s building her network the right way by acquiring the important connections and learning constantly.

    Follow ellakatzz 🙂

These workshops that Mariella’s team and her prepare are announced on her social media page and @Frenzr. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

I’m really glad I took the time to go (my 4th Frenzr event attending) and be able to share my experience with my friends and business partners! Hope you enjoy their next event and leave us a comment on how the experience was for you 🙂

If you liked this blog post and you love Frenzr and Mariella’s vibes, go let them know 🙂 Follow them on Facebook!

They are social peeps and they really love to connect <3

    Happy Networking! 🙂

    Rocketry -Space Concordia Update

    by Oleg Khalimonov

I would like to update you all on the progress we have made in the past few days. It is my pleasure to announce to you that after our presentation at Caltech on Monday. We took not one, but TWO second place trophies!

Two days ago we gave our presentation AND BLEW EVERYONE AWAY. Standing in one of the best engineering universities in the wold, and competing with the top universities on the continent, the attendees were shocked to see how a school that nobody had even heard of (no offence) is now outshining everyone in the room.

We walked away from that presentation taking 2nd place for our report, AND a surprise award from one of the competition sponsors Dassault for adopting their software early on in the competition.

The judges were amazed by our work ethic, preparedness, outreach, and inclusiveness on the team while other teams were floored by the extensiveness and quality of our technical report!

We were also the ONLY team in all of Canada to bring home a podium position! We are all very proud of our work and want to give thanks to all of our sponsors for their endless support, without whom none of this would have been possible!

    The Space Revolution

1 year ago #GiveBack, Events / Conference, Science & Environment, ScienceYep

    By Angie Olivo

We have joined forces with the Rocketry and Space Concordia to be our featured story for #scienceyep and promote their fundraising efforts. Their journey; the good and the bad and everything in between will be documented along the way right here!

Since the creation of Space Concordia, the team has taken home 5 titles from some of the best rocket competitions around the world. I thought this was facinating and noticed similarities with what my team and myself do here at WritersYep. Especially behind the scenes and getting lost in our own universe.

    Source: astronomy-wereallmadeofstardust

There are times where some of us wish we could get out of this world, chill in space and see the stars right above the Earth. Some of us have dreams but never find the courage to make our dreams a reality. And then you have the overachievers who take action and make things happen even if they know they might fail. But they never lose hope because chances are by the 1000th try, it’s bound to succeed.

Meeting this group of people is the perfect example! But It was also a revelation of what it took us to build, execute and consistently create an online media space where everyone is included and equal. No matter what your status is. If you work smart, are dedicated and can create consistently authentic work. That’s a sign of greatness. It deserves to be connected with the right people, respected and recognized.

Effort and reaching a goal bigger than yourself, takes a lot of work and that’s what we been seen on the Space Concordia department and the Rocketry team. Because they never give up, they know exactly where they are going to be next year and so are we. Yep, they are building the fastest rocket! And its destination? Outer space !

We are currently competing in the Base 11 Space Challenge, an intercollegiate challenge to develop a single-stage liquid fuel rocket to surpass the Karman line and get to space. If we are successful, we will be the first students to build a space-capable rocket, PLUS we will have built the most powerful amateur rocket motor in history! We are a small team, and we are all working very hard to achieve this goal. We plan to launch the suborbital rocket in early 2020, with testing beginning in May of this year. – Rocketry Team

    Montreal, Canada -June 16, 2019

On June 16th, 2019 – I had the honor and privilege of meeting personally the @sc.rocketry team. They are currently working on a presentation to showcase their amazing work, in the hope that they can raise money to keep the project going and get better equipment to make [Name to be announced] rocket to fly smoothly, fast and land safely back on Earth. https://www.herox.com/spacechallenge

The Writer’s Yep team is excited to help them connect to the right people, especially since we are partnered recently with shop.com. ”The energy of the mind is the essence of life”-Aristotle

    Expo-entrepreneurs

A week of learning, networking. It was eye opening, being surrounded by amazing inspiring and dedicated entrepreneurs.

    🚀

Expo- entrepreneur was super enlightening and educational, so for those who are starting your business. This was the place to ask the right questions to industry leaders, federal or provincial assistance, coaching, funding, etc. The atmosphere was all about improving yourself to be a better entrepreneur.

Thierry Lindor and Angie Olivo at Google Canada Keynote

    YesMontreal at Google

    🌻

Our #mondaymotivation guru and someone who we already consider our mentor Thierry Lindor invited us to join him at Google for Yes Montreal Keynote event. It was amazing!

Here are 5 Lessons learned from this event:

    1. Your relationship with clients should not be transactional rather relational.

    2. No matter what anybody says, you should always pursue what your passionate about. The money will come after.

    3. Always work on bettering yourself, invest in you.

    4. Support others related to your field, healthy competition it’s good for you and your business.

    5. Failure and mistakes are lessons to learn from.

    🚀

Also, I’ll tell you two little secret of mine. First, I’ve been discovering lately that I love to help/ consult people who work hard, have a vision+mission. I like to encourage their creative side(we all have it in us) to market themselves or their products and services .

Second, secretly love connecting people and encouraging others to work smart, stay consistent and just be passionate about what you do.

I promise whatever you put your mind into and soul.

It will work out no matter what.

For example, the video at the end of this article. I always knew Max (my little sisters high school friend) would be an amazing photographer one day. Kept telling him and encouraging him to keep going.

I knew one day, if I continue growing my business and my network (net-worth). That I would be able to give those opportunities back to people who I strongly believe could reach their ultimate potential.

Max has been showing me consistently that he wants to succeed and be part of a community that will embrace his passion. Now, his one of ours Writer’s Riders!

    CoachSonia x Frenzr Event

    💞

First, Thank you! To our two Girlbosses Mariella Katz ,CEO of FRENZR social media Agency and Business plus Life Coach Sonia Zarbatany for an awesome event. It was very enlighten and super motivating to start our year full of achievable goals, learned that its about energy and focusing on whats truly important to us. At the end we received awesome goodies bags! Really impressed us with the locals sponsors and just amazing people surrounding this gathering.

    @moutonvert our favorite!

We learned how to properly love ourselves a bit more, because our jobs as moms / business owners / womenentrepreneur it’s damn hard. But we still show up, give value to others, talk about our business or kids and let the energy determine who you can do business with.

I Loved the sparkling eyes  I saw on some of the wonderful people I’ve met this week. I’m excited for what the future holds. Not just for me but for the people that will come along with me and continue to demonstrate their talent, work, art, creating content, writing, books, poetry, blogs with or for Writersyep community. It definitely is going be a ride. We are working with great people that will make sure it will be the best ride you’ll ever experienced and we starting with  #booklaunch #april19

Now, here enjoy this video created by one of our very own Writer Rider’s Photographer Max -founder of Stationninety.

❣️social and environmental Justice, indigenous rights, BLM, Trans, Latinos, LGBTQ+, Muslim, Asians, Jews, Arabic people, people living with disabilities, homeless, people dealing with mental illnesses, children, marginalized communities, parents with children w disabilities, women of color, BIPOC communities living in marginalized places. Essential workers, teachers, people delivering, groceries clerks, people living in apartments in horrible conditions but their lives are considered “non-essential “ by the system therefore cannot afford to move, nurses who work other jobs plus saving life’s in hospitals... any more to add to these list? 🤔

THESE ARE REAL PEOPLE. WITH REAL. STORIES.

#environmentalracism exist because of capitalism and white supremacy. OUR SUFFERING, OPPRESSION AND TRAUMAS DURING A WORLD PANDEMIC ARE NOT A CONSPIRACY. 😒

That’s why we need to work on abolition. Also, #abolishthepolice and #fundthecommunity ✊🏾

People who don’t have jobs and can’t afford housing and mental health support should be able to get these for free. What do you think 💭?

We need to STOP shaming people who are suffering right now instead of helping any way you can.

There are literally people comfortable in their home with everything paid for them. Shaming accounts who are voicing THE TRUTH and commenting “they deserve what they get” 🤬

White privilege also is rooted from capitalism and instead of using your privilege for good. You are being violent and creating more #inequality while most of us are trying to break this mental insanity created by greedy colonizers which most of these descended people are highly benefiting from.

We need to do better people. Because our lives 🌎 depends on it.

Stay safe and conscious 💚🌻

Comment, tag and share. 🗣

And save so you can send it to someone with privilege who says “they deserve it “ or “it is their fault” or the usual I hear everyone say to me when I speak about this. “You’re too much”, “stop caring so much” 🙄 “that’s not your problem. Why do you drain your energy on things that are not your concern anymore?” “You’re not homeless anymore are you?”

Yeah, that’s still a racial trauma I’m still working on healing and working really hard so I don’t end up in the streets again. 🙏🏽grateful for my family, friends and you 🌹 who are helping me so I can continue this work.

However, there are many people who don’t have family or friends to help them. Imagine being homeless through this winter and dealing with #policebrutality everyday.

Yep, let that sink in.

Very soon through the new website 💚🙏🏽 going to show you why it matters to care and help others. 🌻

We still are NOT going to just stay silent because it makes people uncomfortable 😒 Nah, they matter as much as all of us and f$&^ billionaires and toxic patriarchy leaders.

Watch out for those who gaslight, shame and blame yours or other BIPOC traumatic experiences. They are highly privileged, greedy people who benefit a lot from inequality and capitalism. 🤮

Most of us are still processing and healing racial Most of us are still processing and healing racial trauma and the shock of seen white supremacy and racism at work on January 6,2020 in the US.

However, just because is uncomfortable and seen the truth plus the reality that POC are dealing on a daily basis. Now, at night during lockdown “curfew” in Montreal, Quebec 🤦🏽‍♀️
we must speak about important matters. We don’t want to deal with bigger problems down the line.

Just like MLK 🖤✊🏾once said: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly."

“from @wearenorth99 if we’re ever going to have climate justice, we must acknowledge the racist origins of the proud boys in so called “Canada” and how they continue to contribute to white supremacy across this land.”

This is something we are already experiencing in Quebec, Montreal with our white supremacist, racist and white privileged leaders. Their actions and decisions are really detrimental and silent violence that only people who are in the front line, essential workers, teachers, children, BIPOC communities, Women of color, Parents, Trans, LGBTQ+, homeless people and elderly are suffering the most. I would not be surprised these leaders of this city are very supportive of these groups. Stay conscious and pay attention. 🌻

We must not stay silent #canadians don’t think that what happen in the US cannot happen here. And they’re counting on your silence and complicit so they can continue their toxic behaviours. It has to end and it ends with all of us, not just some of us.

    RP @_illuminatives 💚✊🏾 “Dr. King taught RP @_illuminatives 💚✊🏾
“Dr. King taught us that racial injustice in the United States started with the arrival of colonizers on Native land. The violence these settlers used first against Indigenous peoples, then against Black slaves, was predicated on white supremacist beliefs. White supremacy is upheld by false origin myths about the United States, ignored by whitewashing brutal anti-Native and anti-Black policies, and sustained by stereotyped, inaccurate portrayals of Native people, and people of color, in popular culture. To create a just world, all people of every race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender expression, and age, must stand together and tell truthful stories about our past and hopeful stories about our future.
•

“We are perhaps the only nation which tried as a matter of national policy to wipe out its indigenous population. Moreover, we elevated that tragic experience into a noble crusade. Indeed, even today we have not permitted ourselves to reject or to feel remorse for this shameful episode. Our literature, our films, our drama, our folklore all exalt it….It was upon this massive base of racism that the prejudice toward the nonwhite was readily built, and found rapid growth. This long-standing racist ideology has corrupted and diminished our democratic ideals. It is this tangled web of prejudice from which many Americans now seek to liberate themselves, without realizing how deeply it has been woven into their consciousness.”
