    On today’s episode,

There are times that require us to be more mindful, more conscious, and to have a sustainable mindset. The energy shifted last week when Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won! But we still have a lot of work to do.

70 million people (55% were white women) voted for evil rather than humanity. These stats are concerning, especially for women of color. All women are the source of bringing life and wisdom into this world and we do raise nations whether patriarchy and capitalism like it or not.

There are male LGBTQ parents raising their children better than women these days. If these white women are advocating for hate, evil, white supremacy, and racist and fascist systems, then these are the communities and children that will require better anti-racism and anti-white supremacy education.

No more leaving it for the BIPOC and parents to deal with it alone. Unity in education, reconciliation, and emancipation must be the goal for all of us; while also uniting to fight for our planet, equality, and justice. Racism, capitalism, and white supremacy are deep-rooted evils seeping into our unconscious minds (learned in schools, from parents, society and our ecosystems) and we need to work on conscious actions (sustainable within and out) to eradicate them from our minds. We need to embrace anti-racism education in schools, books, workshops. This is vital, especially during these times of unavoidable change in our minds and surroundings.

White People Love Racism More Than They Love Humanity

White people overwhelmingly chose racism, inequality, hate, and white rage in 2020.medium.com

Here in Montreal, Quebec, there were a lot of white supremacists and racists showing their support for the orange bigot. Yep, those on Facebook, Twitter and IG. Which is not surprising because we have the same issues here as in the USA. We unfollowed a lot of people this year and it was a blessing to be unfollowed by those that were triggered by our content. We blocked many racist bigots. It is what it is; negativity and toxicity attract each other. The more we engage, the more we feed into it. Be conscious of your own BS too, we all do it.

Meanwhile we should also hold others accountable. If they say, do, post or share racist remarks, or anything that does not align with basic human rights, our planet, and changing this corrupt system, then what’s the point?

It is all of our responsibility to report injustices, fight climate change by helping to build new systems, and defend marginalized groups and those who are voiceless. Our actions must teach a lesson by not lowering ourselves to the level of these toxic people. We must not act like them. Hold your truth and fight for what’s right, but do not feed negativity and toxicity by doing the same thing as them. That’s also unsustainable for you and others. We need to flush colonized, racist, and fascist mindsets out of our brains and surroundings. In other words, your courage, your voice, your resilience and the truth will always bother those who are rotten inside and need to work on being better humans.

It is Inhumane Not to Care About Human Rights, Black Lives , Any People of Color, Women, Justice, Elderly, People With Disabilities and Climate Change. These all matter a lot. _AO

We should not forget that this is only the beginning. We must continue to educate, organize, strategize, and hold people, government leaders, policy makers, and corporations accountable.

But we should also focus more on positivity and being more self-conscious of our own actions, how we are towards others and ourselves too. Our minds have been conditioned and programmed for a very long time.

We must let go of the energy that is no longer serving us, in order to continue growing and moving forward.

We all have to heal in a way that also helps heal our planet and others.

On the second episode of the podcast, it’s me being honest about WritersYep in the present, and talking about ways to feel good while some of us are in lockdown or semi-lockdown. Especially with the winter blues on the horizon. And pandemic fatigue is real y’all.

As an empath and single mother, in this episode, I’m also sending you some healing, positive energy, and encouragement to help you cope in these rough times.

Stay safe, wear a mask, keep your distance, wash your hands often, and take care of your mental health first. Remember to be kind to your mind, to your planet, and to others.

    Thank you for your support!

    Love and Light,

    _AO.

4 Ways to Deal with Grief While Building Your Business and Being a Single Parent

Yep, it’s possible to overcome all you put your mind, heart, and soul into.

I know the title of this blog is intense, but before I dive into more, you need to remember that in order for this to work, you need to prepare your mind and spirit for it. As I’m writing this, in a library, after a long shift working at a restaurant, with my eldest toddler sick for 3 days, I have gotten virtually no sleep. However, the need to help others dealing with a similar situation to mine, is stronger than me.

There are days when it feels easier, but most days feel like climbing the hardest mountain — with a huge load of weight, and heavy sadness right next to you as you climb. A clear reminder that, you still have to deal with pain and hurt no matter how much you try and avoid it with other distractions…

Yep, it’s really easy to ignore the pain with work, Netflix-binging, the social media universe, alcohol, drugs, sex or whatever you do to avoid the big, heavy, not so comfortable emotions. Pain and grief.

Positivity and changing your mindset every day can be exhausting at times. But, for our brains to stay sane, it is necessary to stay positive. If you cannot, that’s okay too. The moon has its good and bad days. She still shines beautifully when she can. And even when she can’t, we know she will shine again eventually. So, don’t forget to recharge, but keep shining your light. Remember, we are all here for a reason.

Now, go ahead and write down three things that make you happy. [leave them in the comments below — I’d love read them :)]

No worries if you haven’t found them yet. Keep looking and the answers you’ve always asked yourself are right within you or within your circle of friends and colleagues. Do not hesitate to ask for help. That’s part of what I’ve been learning throughout the grieving and healing process. You do not have to go through this alone.

If you want to keep the positivity going on days you really need it, I highly recommend exercise. Not just exercising the body; meditate, write down what you are grateful for in this life, eat healthier, go to sleep early (working on this one – — taking naps whenever I can!) and keep in touch with your loved ones.

My other heavy weight is responsibility for others — my kids, my clients, my team, my family, and trying to stay sane while paying bills and working multiple jobs.

(Aside from working on my writing (my first love) and social media presence, I am also in the midst of publishing my first book, creating a podcast, and organizing my first fundraiser event this year. I also work full-time in a vegan restaurant and once a week in a gym. This is in order to pay bills, put food on the table for my two toddlers, and continue to build my startup and my unfranchised business partnered with shop.com) All this while walking on broken glass. My mother is in her last stages of Alzheimer’s at 55 years old, so I am dealing with family drama. Oh – — and entitled writers gone bad.)

I try my hardest to keep a positive outlook because I know there are little ones watching.

Positivity is like a muscle that must be taken care of, nurtured, and recharged. (You are not going to be happy everyday and that’s absolutely fucking fine!)

Let go of what you cannot control.

Here are 4 things I’ve learned so far. I hope they’ll help you too:

    1. Be okay with being super duper sad, and learn not to numb or ignore this feeling.

It’s uncomfortable to even write this. I’m still deep in my healing journey. But I’ve come to understand that we must let the feeling of hurt, hurt us. We must acknowledge it, come to terms with it, and be brave enough to live with it, every single day.

Sadness has a purpose just as being happy does. There are lessons hidden in pain and loss. We need to learn how to live with our grief. It never goes away. That person you lost or are losing in a horrible way, was/is here for a reason. They have impacted your life in some way. You loved them so much, and it’s okay to grieve and be sad about their not being here anymore. However, I don’t believe a soul is ever completely gone. It lives through us.

When you honour that person and do something they used to love or when you do something for someone else, just remember your loved ones. That’s how you keep them alive. The lessons and values they passed down to you and what you learned from them while they were here – — that’s what will always stay alive in your heart and in the hearts of others.

It’s even better when you take those values and lessons, and use them to teach others, to pass them down either through writing, creating a workshop, webinar or podcast. Anything that keeps their message and their purpose alive. That’s usually the best way I’ve come to learn to cope with not having your loved ones here physically (my mom’s body is still here degrading each day, but what she used to be is not). But know that in spirit and through you, they are always here.

For example, my mother always wanted to be a health practitioner. She wanted to help those in need. She helped me a lot when I got leukemia at 15 years old. I’m alive today because she never gave up on finding solutions and an anonymous donor to save me. I pray every day that I could do the same for her. She was always so giving and always wanted to do more for the planet and those she cared about.

Now, these lessons and values she has passed down to me and my sisters are our mission to keep her love alive.

I’ve come to the realization that Alzheimer’s and dementia were bound to happen to her. She knew it too but didn’t want to accept or admit it. I believe there would have been a lot we could have done for her, if she would have talked to us. However, she had a communication problem. She would keep hurtful things to herself. I started to do that after my first break-up when I became a single mom. But thanks to my sisters and friends, I was able to recognize this and break the pattern. I am still trying, for my girls’ sakes.

My mom wouldn’t voice it if something was wrong. She maintained a happy demeanor even when things were not okay. She didn’t want others to feel her pain.

My mother learned this since infancy; her family was not very cooperative of people saying what they really felt or meant. It was considered weak and useless to even speak within the family. Even “I love you” was hard for her to hear. It would make her uncomfortable. The lifestyle she was raised in was more ‘fake it until you make it’…Meanwhile, she grew up in a household that was unhealthy and abusive towards her. Until this day, they have not come to see her or help her in any way. Another lesson: family is not always blood-related. Do not let family members take advantage, abuse and treat you badly just because they are your family. My mom’s coping mechanism was to silence those hurtful things and keep going. She would help others more, in order to avoid helping herself or asking for help.

She grew up to be self-reliant and did things as best as she could to leave her family home and do her own thing. She met my father, they got married and had me before she finished university. Then she went through a horrible divorce and met my step-dad within months of this. Never wanted to talk about hurtful or painful things. Again, a ‘just keep going’ mentality and not recognizing that something was not right. In other words, my mom’s life lessons are beacons of light for my sisters, myself, my two daughters, and perhaps for you too, as I share my story with you. #yourstorymatters (podcast coming soon)

    2. Death is a part of life, learn to see the good even when life is at its worst.

Good or bad, our story and life lessons can help someone else. We come into this world with a purpose. It’s up to us what we do with it.

We all have the same 24 hours in a day.

Let’s not keep silent and start voicing what we really mean. Regardless of the consequences. My mother’s disease is terminal, but she didn’t voice her feelings and talk to someone. She didn’t exercise much and worked a lot. She didn’t get much sleep and always stressed about other things, unrelated to what she wanted to do with her life. These are things that accumulated and I know that she would have done things differently, if she knew better and knew that she wasn’t alone.

I miss her talking to me, especially going through mom life with not much support. I remember most of our conversations. That’s why 7 years ago, I was the first one to notice when something was wrong. She would tell me everything, and I, to her. She was my best friend and I was hers.

Thanks to social media, I’ve learned to reach out to other mamas and women entrepreneur leaders that have been helping me heal, get the help I need, and deal with mom entrepreneurship.

I’m creating a fundraiser event in Montreal, Quebec for child cancer patients and Alzheimer’s research. It’s in honor of my mother’s love, being kind and what she has taught us, so we can now create a safe space and help others through mindful art & creativity.

    3. You are enough.

Yes! You have to remind yourself of this, even when others or other things in life make you think you don’t deserve happiness while you are in pain.

    That is just ridiculous.

So please let go of that and start believing that you deserve everything that this world has to offer. Do not stay in a state of sadness and think thoughts like, “I can’t help myself because I’m sad and I can’t deal”… Of course you can!

Everything in this life is a choice. You are choosing to stay in that state of sadness, depression, anxiety, and fear. This is all just a by-product of thinking you can’t or stressing about a future that hasn’t even happened yet.

Take one step, one day at time, and slowly you will gain your strength and your willingness to do better than yesterday. Progress is a milestone process that requires time. Take your time when it comes to healing past versions of yourself, childhood trauma, fears, breakups, abusive behaviours and the loss of someone you love dearly. Seeking healing by speaking to a therapist or life coach can also help. Do not let pride make you neglect the power of someone who is trained to deal with your pain and grief. Remember, you are enough, you are loved and you deserve to be heard.

For parents who are reading this:

Parenting is freaking hard! However, as I’m in the last stages of publishing my parenting book, I’ve come to appreciate the co-parenting rules and boundaries that me and my ex have built over the last year.

We are better parents now (not perfect, but better) because we have built a good communication system, we take our time seriously, and we value our work and our time with our kids more. But more importantly, when it comes to our girls’ well-being, health, education and values, we want them to learn. We speak to each other in a kind and respectful way in front of our girls.

We want them to also value that just because we are not together, it doesn’t mean we have to be unkind towards each other. We are also teaching them that just because you disagree or something doesn’t work out with someone, it does not mean that you have to cut them off or be rude with them (well, with the exception of some crazy, unsound people. It’s life, it happens. Some people must be cut off in order for you to be happy. Just do it with grace okay?). Either way, we are human and we are not perfect! We make mistakes and some people are on your life journey to teach you a lesson, whether it’s bad or good. Anyway- more parenting tips in my book soon 🙂

    4. Love yourself and say NO when you must.

Even if it makes others uncomfortable. You are your first priority.

I know you’ve probably heard this many times in books, motivational quotes on social media, and other loved ones telling you, but it’s really the truth. Self-love is a discipline and it is absolutely necessary. I wouldn’t be able to do most of everything I do (!) if I didn’t take time for self-care and serious alone time. Writing, blogging, creating content, satisfying clients and giving value to others, as consistently as a single mother can, would not be possible if out of my 24 hours, I don’t take 15 to 20 minutes to recharge (my work hours are usually 64–72 hrs a week, but hey! Building two sustainable and mindful businesses and raising 2 children at the same time is not easy. However, that’s my choice to build a space so others don’t have to 🙂 ).

I hope this helped you to be okay, and that you took a nap or put your phone down for a little “you” time.

    It’s necessary.

Happy working, make sure you nurture your wounds and be alright with them being around you. Just don’t let them consume you. Life is short and we are here to make the most of it.

As always, be kind to your planet, to you (seriously) and to others.

Once you have read a book you care about, some part of it is always with you. -Louis L’amour

WritersYep Book Club 2020 Goals – Let’s make friends who love to read!

Since we are creative writers, freelancers, eco-warriors, influencers, entrepreneurs, coaches, scientist, foodies, travelers, parents and we love to feed our minds with books. As well, very soon we are going to be publishing our own Eco-Books from our authors. For now, a few of us are increasingly relying on our friends and new ones for books recommendations. We thought we’d set up a WritersYep Book Club to visit and share yours and ours favourite reads. Give a little review in our comments below or come join us through our Facebook Community if you feel so inclined. Please invite your friends.

This month of February, we are diving into #FuturisticFebruary as a team with our community on IG and we are challenging ourselves to read at the same time! So this month Book Club was inspired by

One Minute Book review community 🙂 and Our lovely Bossing Up Queen Samantha Kris

    Yep!

    

We want to start by reading at least 2 books a month and we are starting with these! We are going to be checking in our progress once or twice a week, if any questions or concerns you might have during your reading journey please share it in our WritersYep Book club group and we shall solve or start a conversation together. Let’s dive in shall we?

    1.

Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action (February)

I’ve been looking for way to inspire more my teams and our communities with our content in our podcast, emails, blogs and video content. When I saw this book on One Minute Review and went on Amazon to check it out. I saw this “Because in business it doesn’t matter what you do, it matters why you do it.” This has been told to us from our Unfranchise partners training and conferences.

    YEP! STARTS WITH YOUR WHY.

This book is for anyone who wants to inspire others, or to be inspired. Can’t wait to read it!

    2.

    War Doctor (February)

I’m curious about this book since I’m in a healing journey. Looking for peoples journey in the health and helping others while also struggling. Excited to read this one.

    3.

What They Don’t Teach You At Harvard Business School (March)

As an Mom-entrepreneur and founder this book caught my attention, also I love to share what I read and learn with my communities and teams. I’m happy we get to read this one together. Mark H. McCormack, one of the most successful entrepreneurs in American business, is widely credited as the founder of the modern-day sports marketing industry. On a handshake with Arnold Palmer and less than a thousand dollars, he started International Management Group and, over a four-decade period, built the company into a multimillion-dollar enterprise with offices in more than forty countries.

Yep! to this day, McCormack’s business classic remains a must-read for executives and managers at every level. Relating his proven method of “applied people sense”in key chapters on sales, negotiation, reading others and yourself, and executive time management, McCormack presents powerful real-world guidance on.

    4.

The Age of Surveillance Capitalism: The Fight for a Human Future at the New Frontier of Power (March)

This book have been recommend to me from a lot of entrepreneurs and eco- entrepreneurs. I’m happy it’s included on our list and I finally get to read it 🙂

    5.

Everything Is F*cked: A Book About Hope (April)

So my first trip to portland, as I was going to take the plane. I stop in this little book store and that’s when I came across, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life. I loved it so much, that I reach Mark and told him that I’ll love to interview him one day. He said for sure in the future, busy guy but I’m still hopeful that I get to talk to him. He was one of my inspiration to continue writing and creating with my team our writing community. So when we saw this book on one minute review list, we had to read it because we loved his first book so much. Can’t wait! you?

    6.

Dare to Lead: Brave Work. Tough Conversations. Whole Hearts. (April)

This one was recommend before, however, never seem to have the time to read it. I’m happy we get to take the time together to dive into this one!

    7.

The Unexpected Joy of the Ordinary (May)

This one I got intrigue because I take great pleasure in enjoying the little and ordinary things in life. My girls and my mama taught me this. I can’t wait to read this one 🙂

    8.

    Bossing Up (May)

This one I’m almost done… Sorry, however, I would read it again with you all. I loved it so much, I can’t put it down and I don’t wanted to be over. She’s as beautiful in person as she embraces her inner genius in this book. I hope you get to love it as much as I did. She also has a podcast The Catalyst with Samantha Kris that came out this year! It’s amazing let’s hop in together while we dive into her book 🙂

That’s it! This is going to be my mood while I dive more into growing, healing and reading with you all. See you on the Facebook WritersYep Book Club.

Be kind to your planet, to you and others. Until next time <3

THIS IS QUEBEC. This is why they are working reall THIS IS QUEBEC. This is why they are working really hard to keep BIPOC quiet, living in poverty, worse housing conditions during lockdown. The government of Quebec has stop giving the second doses of the vaccine 🤦🏽‍♀️ and are conducting their own twist “study“ which is very clear. BIPOC are not essential even though we are all in the front line saving people, teaching, delivering and doing all essential services.

Encouraging racist and white supremacy landlords to keep marginalized people living in this conditions because once the people get evicted, landlords get a big deal 💰while there are millions of people homeless. Yes, in this city is illegal to be poor and homeless. Let that sink in.

This video only shows you the surface of what we’re living every single day. However, this video also gives a clear message for those who are still not voicing this matter because it doesn’t affect you. @kelzuncut ❤️🙏🏽 thank you for your courage 🌻

Silence is violence in this city and it’s affecting women, children, people with disabilities and marginalized communities. Where is your #empathy ?

This is what happens when lack of #leadership and keeping #racistwhitepeople in power. Well, we all learned our lessons from the USA 🇺🇸🙄yep, we also need to cut rotten apples here in Quebec City. @justinpjtrudeau

“A Canadian pharmacy chain closed off the Black haircare products section in a store, saying it was nonessential, as the region is under COVID-19 lockdown. ⁣
⁣
A group of friends went to the store to confront the store management against the discrimination and did an Instagram live video. ⁣
⁣
The store owner opened up the section saying it was a mistake. After the video of the incident went viral Uniprix issued a company apology.⁣”

“In theory, it’s common sense that identifying a problem is distinct from addressing one. But when it comes to identifying the many manifestations of oppressive systems, the sense of “waking up” to pervasive inequity can be mistaken for being part of the solution.

When we identify oppressive systems, after turning inward to recognize our own role in perpetuating harm, it is crucial we turn back outwards again—to disrupt the status quo. 👏🏾💚

We must prioritize deep listening and sustained commitment to enacting change.” ✊🏾Yep!

#fridayforfuture 🌎💚Sorry is not the usual po #fridayforfuture 🌎💚Sorry is not the usual post. However, silence, covert racism, discrimination against BIPOC, stripping children and parents rights while we are trying to survive a #worldpandemic with no support financially while also dealing with #injustice is violence. #climatejustice also includes #socialjustice ✊🏾Promise myself that I will not stay silent anymore. Even if it makes others uncomfortable. Truth, creativity, justice, sustainability, education, writing for change, kindness and love are our core values. 🌱

There is a huge difference between learning about racism, discrimination, white supremacy, inequality and sexism. Than experience it ever single day.

My hope is that by sharing my truth and of others, as we are working on growing this creative diverse media space against the status quo. And trust me, it has been very hard building this alone 🐺, create communities, hold bigots accountable, give back and work, as a single mother.

However, we hope by changing ourselves, recognize our unconscious bias, making mistakes and learning from them; still show up imperfectly and work on creating conscious behaviours, that it inspires change and creates impact. #equalitymatters Because is necessary more than ever now. Compassion needs to be priority. 🌎 Do NOT stay silent when you know and see injustice! Staying silent because it doesn’t affect you is privilege and violence. We need to stop this insanity systems and #abolishwhitesupremacy 👊🏾. Be kind and hold oppressors accountable. Stay conscious. 🌎🌻

Lesson of the day, for all of us. Even my kids. They saw a little because this is too violent for toddlers. However, they learned today #thisiswhitesupremacy and #racismistaught by watching how “police “ 🙄is doing nothing to stop them. Then show them #blacklivesmatter✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 protest from last year. 😲Yep, if a 5 year old can get it. So can you. People, this is NOT our fight!

Thank you @staceyabrams ❤️👑✊🏾you’re a gift not only to the US but humanity 🌎✊🏾Thank you for what you do. Thank you for inspiring girls and women of color, that our voice matter. That we can beat the system trying to silence our voices. You brought hope back to all of us. Even 🇨🇦 😊. We love you!

P.s: Make sure beautiful earthlings to follow, like, comment, share and save our content and those we share here 💚 White supremacy is doing is work also on all social media platforms. They are trying to silent activists accounts and suppress freedom of speech. Especially, for any BIPOC. Thank you for your support and kindness 🌻
